LETTER FROM THE SESSION

COVID-19 RESPONSE

(March 14, 2020)

Dear FPC Congregation,

This Sunday, we are canceling all gathered worship services. Instead, we will provide one, combined service via internet Livestream at 10 a.m.  Audio will be rebroadcast at 11am on WPAX.  Tomorrow, please follow the instructions at the link below:

Our broadcast will combine elements from both our ARISE and Traditional services.  For a link to our printable bulletin, please see yesterday’s Pulse.

All events this week at FPC are canceled.  The office will remain open, and meetings will be communicated case by case.

We have not made this decision lightly.  Top infectious-disease specialists strongly advise suspending large gatherings in order to help “flatten the curve” of spreading COVID-19.  Let’s do our part to help our medical community keep pace with the needs of vulnerable people who get the virus.

Plainly, this decision is a way to "love our neighbors.”

While symptoms of COVID-19 will be minimal for most people, it can be fatal to the elderly and friends with lung complications. The best way to protect our most vulnerable neighbors includes limiting their exposure to the virus by also limiting our exposure, lest an infected party inadvertently pass it on to them.

We know this change comes at a time when we all could use some encouragement.  Please tune in this Sunday with your family and let’s make the most of it.  Meanwhile, look to our website for updates on how we can encourage one another and respond to needs in our community.

"God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, of love, and of sound mind.”  (2 Tim. 1:7)

Our Lord gives us faith not to escape circumstances and fear, but for courage to face it, to trust more deeply in God, and to love one another better.

Warm regards,
in Christ,

Your FPC Session
