OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE AT FPC

There are so many ways for our members to use their gifts and talents to serve here at FPC Thomasville.
Below is a list of opportunities within the church where you can serve:

To facilitate discipleship and growth opportunities for the church community to know God and be known to one another as we learn to live and love like Jesus.

  • Life Group Participant/Leader

    • Join or lead a small group that meets twice monthly to grow in faith and friendship.

  • Sunday School Leader

    • Help facilitate adult Sunday classes 1–2x/month

  • Sisterhood Team (Women’s Ministry)

    • Serve on the women’s ministry planning team with monthly meetings and special events.

  • Event Host Team (Women’s Ministry)

    • Assist with setup, greeting, or clean-up for quarterly events.

  • MomCo Mentor Mom

    • Serve as a mentor and encourager during monthly MomCo gatherings; attend leadership meetings.

  • MomCo Childcare Provider

    • Provide care for young children during MomCo meetings

  • Men’s Ministry Team

    • Help lead and shape men’s events and discipleship opportunities. Time commitment varies.

  • Tool Belt Team

    • Be available for light repair and maintenance projects as needed.

  • Workday Participant

    • Join scheduled team days for property upkeep and improvements

    • Serve monthly to monitor parking and building access during worship.

Partner with families to support young disciples to live and love like Jesus; modeling and training as we worship, grow, and serve in obedience to God’s Word.

  • Sunday School Sub (Preschool–3rd Grade)

    • Be on call to lead or assist with a Sunday class. Materials and support provided.

  • Nursery Support

    • Assist with infants–4-year-olds during busy Sundays or special events.

  • Jesus & Me (JAM) Support

    • Support our children's discipleship program one Wednesday/month, 3:30–5:00pm.

  • Vacation Bible School – Planning Team

    • Help plan summer VBS with creative input & advance prep.

  • Vacation Bible School – Event Team

    • Serve on-site for VBS (4 mornings; lead small groups or workshops.

  • Christmas Eve Nativity Team

    • Help organize and support the Family Nativity during Christmas Eve worship.

  • Trunk or Treat

    • Host a themed trunk and pass out candy during our fall outreach event.

  • Special Event Volunteer

    • Help with logistics, greeting, or setup during any special events outside of those listed above.

Promote leadership development through our governing boards by recruiting, training, and mobilizing new officers both within our local congregation, national church, and community while keeping our local congregation involved and apprised of current issues within the EPC.

  • Nominating Committee

    • Help recruit & recommend incoming elders & officers.

  • Officer Retreat Support

    • Assist with food setup & hospitality during annual officer gatherings.

Facilitate connectedness among members and to provide compassionate response in times of need.

  • Bereavement Team

    • Provide refreshments or assist with reception setup during memorial services.

  • Visitation Team

    • Visit or correspond with 2-3 homebound or assisted living members each month.

Plan and implement various events throughout the year where the church body and guests come together for Christian fellowship.

  • Boots & BBQ Event

    • Serve ~2 hours helping with setup, food service, or clean-up.

  • Wednesday Night Dinners

    • Assist as needed with setup, serving, and clean-up during community dinners.

  • Thanksgiving/Easter Events

    • Help with serving and cleanup for church-wide seasonal meals.

  • Food Contributor (Receptions)

    • Prepare or drop off sweet or savory items for receptions when needed.

Promote stewardship as the faithful giving of one’s time, talent and financial resources to enable the church to worship, grow and serve.

  • Planning Team

    • Meet 1-2 times per month in fall to plan and lead the annual campaign.

To promote and support mission partners and mission experiences at FPC through accountable mission partnerships, short-term mission trips, and regular communication with our partners.

  • Missions Conference Volunteer

    • Support logistics or hospitality for our annual global missions conference.

  • Short-Term Mission Trip Participant

    • Explore interest in serving on a short-term trip.

  • Missions Committee

    • Attend monthly meetings to shape and support FPC’s global mission efforts.

Support local mission partners and member experiences through promoting awareness of local needs, providing consistent service opportunities and maintaining accountability.

  • Mission Partner Ambassador

    • Serve as liaison to one of our 13 local partners (30–60 min/month).

  • Kids Hope Mentor

    • Mentor an elementary student weekly during school year

  • Kids Hope Prayer Partner

    • Commit to pray for a mentor/child pair throughout the school year.

Committed to providing a clear path for both visitors and new members to join and plug into our church; help members be engaged, fruitful and fulfilled in the ministry of FPC and the mission of Christ.

  • Connect with Visitors

    • Follow up with new visitors via call or note to help them feel welcomed.

  • Coffee with the Pastor (host/support)

    • Help host or support membership classes scheduled each fall and spring.

  • Friendship Partner for New Members

    • Build a connection with someone new and invite them into the life of the church.

  • Visitor Bags Maintenance

    • Ensure welcome bags are stocked and available in key church areas.

  • Social Media Coordinator

    • Help staff implement and maintain our digital presence through regular posts.

Partner with families and the congregation to reach and equip the next generation for Christ. We desire to build relationships with students so that they have a relationship with God.

  • Sunday School Leader

    • Lead or assist in youth Sunday school with lesson prep and group facilitation; rotating schedule

  • Small Group Leader (Wed nights)

    • Lead weekly small groups for students on Wednesday evenings.

  • Meal Pick-Up/Delivery (Wed nights)

    • Be on a rotating team to pick up and deliver food for student ministry.

  • Meal Setup

    • Assist with serving and clean up on a rotating schedule.

  • Football Breakfast (October)

    • Serve on logistics team to coordinate event

  • Event Host/Home/Logistics

    • Support seasonal events by opening your home or helping with setup and coordination

  • Summer Adult Leader

    • Accompany students during summer activities or trips; assist with planning.

  • College Connection Partner

    • Encourage and stay connected with a college student from FPC throughout the year.

Create environments for vibrant worship of God as we come into His presence.

  • Sanctuary Choir

    • Join rehearsals Wednesday nights and sing in traditional Sunday services.

  • Worship Team (Arise)

    • Lead music at the Arise service; includes weekly rehearsal and Sunday morning performance.

  • Instrumentalist

    • Play an instrument during worship; schedule varies by availability and need.

  • Communion Prep

    • Set up and clean communion elements for Arise or traditional services monthly.

  • Sanctuary Flowers

    • Provide flowers on a scheduled basis.

  • Greeters/Ushers (Traditional or Arise)

    • Greet and assist worshippers, collect offering, and help create a welcoming environment.

  • Bulletin Prep

    • Assist weekly to prepare worship bulletins.

  • Worship Space Prep

    • Check Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall weekly for supplies.

  • Advent Décor (Greening of the Church)

    • Decorate the church for Advent and assist with take-down.
